Writing lyrics for Bread & Butter Berlin
In winter 2006 the Poetry jockeys were invited (as guests) to attend the opening of a new extension of the Uberhip Fashion Trade-fair Bread & Butter Berlin.
We PJs Martijn & Rob drove to Berlin little we knew that this would become one of the worst ever car trips, Amsterdam - Berlin. Miraculously we managed to survive the fierce and severe snowstorm and very icy roads. On arrival we entered a huge hangar at Berlin-Tempelhof airport.
In stead of being tired we were filled with energy and after a while we felt the audience could do with some positive PJ wordly interaction. However with just our famous Itoya calligraphy pencil at hand and no paper, it needed a little improv. We started to write on the blank and visible body parts with poetry.
And with all the fashionista's, famous and wannabees they shared one thing..they cued up for some personal poetry.
We loved it and they clearly too as a few weeks later Bread & Butter Berlin surprised us completely when they asked the PJs to write lyrics for their CD release. In collaboration with Berlin based Brillianttree Records and producers Dr Atmo, Paul Brtschnitz and Leonyl, we wrote 5 lyrics resulting in poetic-ambient music.
