As with all great ideas, the Poetry Jockeys came about through a mixture of coincidence and necessity
In the late 90s, childhood friends Rob and Martijn felt a strong urge for more interaction in the Amsterdam dance scene.
DJs became rockstars and VJs filled the screens. Audiences were observers of the stories that happened on stage and screen. A costume party at a theater school saw the birth of their call for interaction. Surrounded by Cleopatra and other legendary characters, the Poetry Jockeys (PJs) were born. Searching for words on the dancefloor and connecting legends with on-the-spot handwritten poetry became their mission. Their maiden voyage left a lasting impression and word spread. Clubs around Europe, festivals and companies in need of interactive performances became aware of their mission. When people asked for pen and paper to write for themselves, PJs created workshops enabling all ages to experience the PJ way of interacting and connecting. PJs believe that words are forever evolving PJs are independent of target group and location PJs care about your words Poetry Jockeys - Words Reveal Worlds. |
