Review of performance @ Suppersjiek

Last friday's performance @ the Supperclub Sjiek was something different. About a week before The Supper asked us to think how we could enhance the promotion of their new CD Arrogance with a PJ performance. Well 10 minutes later we returned with a concept they couldn't refuse.

In stead of writing ourselves we decided to let the audience participate.
The only thing we did was to come up with some initial feelings on paper and hand that out.
The crowd picked this up quickly and started to write for the person next to them and so on and so on.
Soon we were short of pens and paper and they forgot about their expensive dinner...
Maybe soon we will be out of work :-)

For the next event @ the Supperclub this month.
We will be doing something totally different, we still have to create.

Wrapup Poems for Marlies Dekkers

Yesterday the PJ's were invited to perform one of their most kept secret skills

"writing one poem that sums it all"

A little review of what we did:
Top International fashion designer, Business Woman of the Year 2007, best selling novelist of "Stout", Marlies Dekkers, who lets herself be inspired by Poetry, invited us to bring something to think about on their Strategic Day.

In a beautiful Mansion somewhere in Holland we got the insides of Marlies' company 4 year strategic view.
Board, directors, management team & creatives from around the world were participating in several brainstorm sessions.

PJs, Martijn & Rob, floated across the brain waves inhaling the vibes, concerns and questions that arose.

And let me tell you Marlies knows how to create an event.
At the end of the day after, just before the sparkling toast, the PJs got on stage to share their poems (in English of course).

We understand your curiosity, but as you understand the day was confidential and like with all our poems; personal, handwritten written, glanced with a finishing touch.

Needless to say they are now kept in her personal safe....

Now & Wow hacked by the PJ's!

After performing @ the premiere party of the musical Cats  earlier in the evening and several glasses of champagne later we couldn't stop writing :-)

Since we were in Rotterdam and never visited the Now & Wow club we decided to hack into there.

It felt like ground hog day since Rob & Martijn did this @ Sinners Amsterdam after performing at the Cirque du Soleil premiere a few years ago. Only we looked like devils and in company of a dwarf and very tall beautiful blond lady, who allegedly was his girlfriend. That was only too easy.

At Now & Wow there was also a long cue and no persuasion necessary to pass the bouncers, explain the guest list lady, the manager and PA to the owner and Rotterdam god father of clubbing, Ted Langenbach, that we were really booked (not) to PJ that night. After checking with Ted she gave us free entrée, dressing room & free drinks. After all a club that is renowned for theatrical entertainment doesn't even offer personal and private interaction….so yeah even though they had no clue who the hell we were they liked the PJ idea.

It was the so-called Lolita Klup theme and just like we did @ several events last December in Berlin we took only our pencils and let the ink flow on skin.

PJ Amin came along (did you finish your poem from Catherine Keyl to Joop van den Ende and vice versa?).
The crowd was good, personnel friendly & drinks free, the pictures show the rest.

Suggestions for another club we hack into are welcome.

PJs write lyrics for Bread & Butter Berlin!

Six months ago PJs attended (as visitors) the opening of a new extension to the Uberhip Fashion Trade-fair Bread & Butter Berlin.

Soon after they arrived, PJs felt the audience could do with some more interaction.
With just their calligraphy pencil at hand and no paper, it needed a little improv.

Unannounced and even though it was severe winter time there were plenty of blank and visible body parts ready for poetry.

It was not long before people stood in line.....

Leaving a lasting impression to the organization, as they asked the PJs to write lyrics for their CD release.

In collaboration with Berlin based Brillianttree Records and producers Dr Atmo, Paul Brtschitsch and Leonyl, PJs wrote 5 lyrics resulting in poetic ambient music. Below you can listen to one of them.
